Home Repairs

Provides volunteers who assist approximately 20 families a year with repairs to their homes.

December 2011 update:

This year Morgan Scott has hosted 28 work groups (360 volunteers) that worked on 31 homes, built a loading dock for the Scott County Food Pantry, repaired the flooring in a storage building for ALQI and built some new storage space for Morgan Scott.

Working with the F.A.S.T. (Faithful Advocates Serving Together) has been a huge blessing for MSP. We are getting a lot more work groups as well as more money.

Unfortunately,  with the huge need for home repair, and all the wonderful and skilled volunteers, we have overspent the home repair budget.

August 2011 update:

What an amazing summer! We have been blessed with 21 work groups with a total of 337 volunteers. We have worked on 21 homes, two community projects, given out food at the Food Pantry and completed some much needed repairs at the office.

For the second year Morgan-Scott partnered with F.A.S.T. (Faithful Advocates Serving Together). This partnership has provided work groups from across the country.

In two homes we did complete rehabs, replaced porches and windows, painted houses inside and out, put in new floors and floor coverings, installed new kitchen cabinets, and replaced bath tubs and walk-in showers.

We also completed our first new build: a 16′ x 16′ room addition to a trailer.
